How many people today are either having
a fun dating relationship or have had one?
How many boys and girls have found the
light of their lives online?
Everyone knows that today, falling in
love using the Internet ,is no longer a
remote possibility, it is more than likely
to happen to two out of three people,
especially to the teenagers of today.
This is true even though it is also a
fact that most parents do not encourage
this sort of thing for their teenage
children. Their reasons may be a true fear
for their child's safety, and this means
that you, as a teenager, must be very
careful when you have embarked on a dating
relationship, and have become emotionally
involved with someone online.
Safety comes first and you must
make sure that you do not reveal personal
details about yourself, including your
residential address or your telephone
number. The person on the other end may
not be who s/he claims s/he is, since
names, photographs and other details can
very easily be faked. In fact, he may even
be a wolf in sheep's clothing and he could
be a certified predator, who would try his
best to make you fall in like with
him.
When you are giving details about
yourself, try to remain honest whenever
possible, so that when you meet him or her
face to face for the first time, you can
avoid great disappointment. On the other
hand, when you are forming a relationship
with another teenager, online, you must
always assume that he or she is not who he
claims he is, unless you know him or her
offline and have met them.
If the boy or girl you are chatting
with starts to make sexually suggestive
remarks, back off immediately and report
it to your parents and to the dating site
administrator. Also, remember to never
arrange to meet your online teenage date
alone, and if you feel that you do have to
meet him or her, then it would be
advisable to meet him or her at a very
public place, like at a coffe shop or a
mall, and bring a few of your close
friends along too. Most importantly, tell
an adult where you are going, and who are
meeting, and why.
